Kalin and Myles:
Music's got a long history of impressive duos, from Simon & Garfunkel to Method Man & Redman. There's just something special about a tag team of two distinct personalities joining forces for a singular musical mission. That brings us to Northern California duo—Kalin & Myles. These two forge together pop and hip hop into an irresistible and inimitable hybrid, affectionately dubbed, "Hip Pop". Meet the 21st century's premier pair.
After crossing paths at a local movie theater in 2011 and following up with each other on Facebook, Kalin & Myles began formally making music together, creating their own beats, singing, and rapping. Soon afterwards, they dropped "More Than Friends" online, and the response was instantly overwhelming. They performed shows with the likes of Austin Mahone and Megan & Liz and slowly developed a fervent fan base. Headline gigs then followed and started selling out.
In 2012, Kalin & Myles released their debut EP, Chasing Dreams, which brought their “Hip Pop” sound to the spotlight with songs like “Go To Work,” which pays homage to the classic Bay Area rap sound with a throbbing bass bounce. The EP was full of high-energy music, with a message to work hard for what you want in life.
Last December, the duo released their second EP titled, K&M University, which hit the Top 20 of iTunes Pop Albums Chart and landed in the Top 60 of the Overall Albums Chart upon its debut.
The lead track off the EP, “Chase Dreams,” hearkens back to the signature “Hip Pop” sound the pair patented, while continuing to spread the message that the song title suggests. "We just want to tell the world, 'Don't be afraid to chase your dreams'. Do you. Follow what you want. Go out there and get it. We're living proof that anybody can," says Kalin.
On “Love Robbery," another track from the EP, the duo treads a different path, incorporating a new kind of swagger and spirit. "For K&M University, we wanted to maintain the element of fun," explains Myles. "It's got that club Bay sound, but we tried some new things as well. We took away the boundaries, and we moved into different territory. It's a step up in terms of production and lyrics."
As their careers continues to grow and develop- with the duo most recently signing to Universal Music Group’s Republic Records, Kalin & Myles have been humbled by the hyper enthusiastic ranks of fans supporting them. "We have a really close relationship with them," says Kalin. "We engage our fans through social networks. They've been with us from the ground up, and their support strengthens us." “We're so passionate and driven,” Myles
