Animal Years: Free-wheeling, feel-good melodies and smooth ringing guitars shine on Sun Will Rise. From the glorious opening track and first single, “Meet Me” to rockabilly closer, “Walking Slow,” the quartet delivers indie rock with grace. Title track “Sun Will Rise” blossoms with country/folk tinges, and dancy “Forget What They’re Telling You” crescendos with impassioned vocals and guitar strums. Sun Will Rise showcases the delicacy and introspection behind songwriting and draws on the strengths of McFadden’s seasoned voice and multi-instrumental abilities.
Parsonsfield:
American Songwriter says their new album Blooming Through The Black “captures both the live energy the band has come to be known for as well as the sonic evolution that occurred after months of feeling stagnant.” WNYC Soundcheck says that "the quintet Parsonsfield is based in western Massachusetts, but their music draws on the string bands of Appalachia. At least in part. They also like to crank up the amps and pin your ears to the wall.”

Folk Alley says "a lot of string bands like to talk about how they are innovating, but Parsonsfield actually delivers on that promise...their sound kick out the windows of what most people think of folk and bluegrass."

Catch Parsonsfield onstage any night and the band's joy is palpable. They trade instruments, share microphones, and shoot each other big grins. They sing in tight multi-part harmonies, their voices blending like they've been doing this together all their lives. That's because Parsonsfield is a family band, not by birth but by choice.

Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Elephant Revival) produced Blooming Through The Black, the band’s third release on Signature Sounds, and also helped Parsonsfield convert an old axe factory on the banks of the Farmington River in Connecticut into the studio where they would record the stirring new album. Creating in such a unique and enormous space pushed the band to embrace understatement and subtlety to balance out their natural exuberance and energy.

Parsonsfield is: Chris Freeman (vocals, banjo), Antonio Alcorn (mandolin), Max Shakun (vocals, pump organ, guitar), Harrison Whale Goodale (bass), Erik Hischmann (drums)

Major Player:
Major Player is the brainchild of songwriter instrumentalist Jeffrey York. A native-born Upstate New Yorker who has spent a decade writing in the indie rock vein, with influences that span Pop, Rock Hip-hop and R&B.

A cast of Syracuse NY musicians, Major Player consists of Jeff York on vocals and guitar, backed by Liz Strodel on drums, Andrew Greacen on bass and Nick Mazzeo on Hammond organ, electric piano and synthesizer.

Major Player grounded itself in the early collaborations of Jeff York and Liz Strodel. What began as an experiment in hip-hop beat-making transformed into an indie project rooted in the art of sampling.

The debut album "Extended Play" is deliberate in its simplicity and brilliant in his use of repetition and overlapping layers to lead the listener through climactic points of each song. Intentionally lo-fi, introspective and moody, there is a kind of anticipation and patient building that takes place within the rhythmic structure of these tunes.

With lyrics that explore the shadowy faces of love and age, "Extended Play" maintains a pop driven focus, while delivering dark creative melodies and catchy vocal hooks. The lyrical content and delivery will draw you in and keep you listening for answers as the music grows from unanswered questions.
