The Mallet Brothers Band with Jon Fishman:

Portland Maine based "The Mallett Brothers Band" will be joined by Jon Fishman of Phish for 2 weeks of their 2018 spring tour.  This tour marks the first extended series of dates with the Phish drummer and the fourth overall appearance with the band.  Fishman will be playing a 2nd Drum kit during the sets comprised mostly of The Mallett Brothers Band original music.  It will feature the bands first performances at both Brooklyn Bowl and the ballroom at Higher Ground in Burlington, Vt while offering Fishman a show in his hometown of Syracuse, NY.  Fishman first performed with The Mallett Brothers Band in 2016 as part of his bid to help Bernie Sanders gain the democratic nomination for president.

The Mallett Brothers Band's busy tour schedule over the past seven years has helped them to build a dedicated fanbase across the U.S. and beyond while still calling the state of Maine their home. With a style that can ranges from alt-country to Americana, country, jam and roots rock, theirs is a musical melting pot that's influenced equally by the singer/songwriter tradition as by harder rock, classic country and psychedelic sounds. Texas Hill Country Explore Magazine calls them “New England’s wildly eclectic crew of genre rebels.” Bill Copeland Music News says “Combining their authentic roots rock sound with a reflective lyrical style that perceives stories on the level of epic myth, it’s like William Faulkner has been resurrected with an electric guitar in hand.."

While remaining fully independent, The Mallett Brothers Band has performed at some of the country’s top venues and festivals, including Austin Texas’s famed Continental Club; Alexandria, Virginia’s Birchmere (sharing the stage with Oklahoma red-dirt rockers The Turnpike Troubadors), New Hampshire’s Meadowbrook Pavilion (opening for The Allman Brothers Band, and again opening for Lynyrd Skynyrd); Nashville’s Bluebird; and Little Rock’s The Rev Room, to name a few. Festival appearances include FloydFest (Virginia), Hop Jam (Vermont), Nateva (Maine), The New England Country Music Festival (New Hampshire), Eastbound Throwdown (New York), and many more.

Parsonsfield:
American Songwriter says their new album Blooming Through The Black “captures both the live energy the band has come to be known for as well as the sonic evolution that occurred after months of feeling stagnant.” WNYC Soundcheck says that "the quintet Parsonsfield is based in western Massachusetts, but their music draws on the string bands of Appalachia. At least in part. They also like to crank up the amps and pin your ears to the wall.”

Folk Alley says "a lot of string bands like to talk about how they are innovating, but Parsonsfield actually delivers on that promise...their sound kick out the windows of what most people think of folk and bluegrass."

Catch Parsonsfield onstage any night and the band's joy is palpable. They trade instruments, share microphones, and shoot each other big grins. They sing in tight multi-part harmonies, their voices blending like they've been doing this together all their lives. That's because Parsonsfield is a family band, not by birth but by choice.

Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive, Elephant Revival) produced Blooming Through The Black, the band’s third release on Signature Sounds, and also helped Parsonsfield convert an old axe factory on the banks of the Farmington River in Connecticut into the studio where they would record the stirring new album. Creating in such a unique and enormous space pushed the band to embrace understatement and subtlety to balance out their natural exuberance and energy.

Parsonsfield is: Chris Freeman (vocals, banjo), Antonio Alcorn (mandolin), Max Shakun (vocals, pump organ, guitar), Harrison Whale Goodale (bass), Erik Hischmann (drums)

Waydown Wailers:

Original Roots Rock, Blues Rock, and Jam with a healthy dash of Americana and Southern Rock, is a sound Waydown Wailers label as Outlaw Jam".

Waydown Wailers are a band that is on the top of the innovative music scene now pouring from a cool North American spigot. Streaming like a refreshing blast of harmony over a burnout music wary countryside, the Waydown Wailers are boldly original, tunefully deep, and forever lingering."
Another family affair, (a North American tradition) brothers Dave (guitar/lead vocals) and Christian Parker (lead guitar) have not played together in a band until this harmonious bug bit them, and the rest of the tribe: Michael Scriminger (drums/percussion) and Connor Pelkey (bass backing vocals) welded the circle complete.  Four guys carving individual niches into every nook and cranny of the North American music landscape and collectively producing a dazzling band even stronger than the sum of its harmonies.

Just groove to their music and you'll instantly identify a unique resonance defined by rock-hard lyrics, great musicianship, and hand-clapping, foot-stomping melodies. Everything they create brands the consciousness. Songs dissecting the discontented soul of a bitter land of liberty stand strong alongside ballads of aching hearts worn admirably on their sleeves. This is the kind of band that begins as a smoldering local event and before you know it, rapidly transforms into a blazing national trend.

The Waydown Wailers is a band of dreamers that in vision a sound that they personally want to inhabit, something that gets their hearts pumping before releasing it on a cover-beaten, musically famished public. Dave Parker's vocals are right on, crisp and oh so deliciously addictive. It's his signature phrasing that hooks you fast, keeps you transfixed and in the mix. And oh what a mix it is with Mike Scriminger's funk/ rock drum flare to Connor Pelkey's eccentric bass spouting funk and dare I say world beat slaps and pops while Christian Parker is another hot-lightening picker not afraid to add his eclectic style, it's all to hell n' back and  truly defining the phrase "he's got chops."   These are some badass players, musicians that really love the art.

After years of paths crossing and performing in a succession of bands, Waydown Wailers started based on the mutual desire by all four for an original sound and songs that were different. “We wanted to be in an all original band and, together we decided to commit to a new band. We continued to work on some melodies together and arranging some music to go with some lyrical ideas that were swimming around in Dave’s head,” says WW.

After performing with New Riders of the Purple Sage in Syracuse at Westcott Theater, Scruffy was talking to NRPS, who suggested contacting their label, Woodstock Records. CDs of live recordings were sent to Professor Louie. Songs were picked and worked on from afar and it wasn’t until the first day of recording that Waydown Wailers and Prof Louie met face to face in the studio to work on the debut album, “State Of The Union” (2013 Woodstock Records).

Aaron “Professor Louie” Hurwitz is a seasoned live performer, prolific recording artist and talented multi-instrumentalist (Hammond B3 organ, piano/keyboards, accordion, and vocals). An award-winning recording producer and engineer, he has captured the talents of some of the world’s most highly acclaimed musicians, including Graham Parker, Commander Cody, Dave Brubeck, The New Riders of the Purple Sage, Guy Davis, Oumar Konate, and, most notably, The Band: For 15 years, Professor Louie served as co-producer, engineer and performer with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees, teaming up with The Band for their last three group albums (Jericho, High on the Hog, Jubilation) and numerous solo projects for Rick Danko, Garth Hudson and Levon Helm.
